The Art Foundation was born from a simple idea: to share what enriches us. Over many years, the founder gathered an extensive collection of Czech fine art, which currently adorns either hard-to-access places or rests in storage. And many other collections are in the same situation. But what is a painting that no one sees? What is a story that no one tells? Is it not the purpose of art to be shared?

A Word from the Founder

"I discovered the world of art many years ago, thanks in part to someone who was very dear to me. Art captivated me so much that it became an inseparable part of my life. It opened new horizons for me and taught me to pause amid the everyday rush.

I have focused exclusively on collecting Czech art. I am proud of the artists our country has historically given to the world. Art taught me to notice the details that make the difference between an ordinary thing and an extraordinary one. Gradually, however, I came to understand that even the most beautiful works lose their power if they remain hidden in private spaces or storage. Just as a picture frame will never be complete without the artwork at its centre, art too needs its viewers. Only their gaze gives it true meaning.

It matters to me that in the future, our country will continue to produce outstanding artists, and that the broader public will have the opportunity to discover the beauty of art as I did. Perhaps even earlier than I was fortunate enough to.

That is why the Art Foundation was created: to take art out of emptiness, frame it within the context of today, and show it where it can truly have an impact, among people. Because art changes us. And I believe it will have a positive effect on you as well."

Story

of the foundation

The Art Foundation was born from a simple idea: to share what enriches us. Over many years, the founder gathered an extensive collection of Czech fine art, which currently adorns either hard-to-access places or rests in storage. And many other collections are in the same situation. But what is a painting that no one sees? What is a story that no one tells? Is it not the purpose of art to be shared?
We have realised that keeping valuable works by Czech artists framed away in storage is like owning a library that no one is allowed to open. Many people discover the power of art only later in life, if at all. That is a shame. We therefore want our work to help change this practice.

Art can do something in today's hurried world that nothing else can. It frames a moment, compels us to stop, think, and notice details that would otherwise escape us.
The Czech visual arts scene has much to offer the world. It is naturally far broader and more varied than any single private collection. Visual art is an integral part of our Czech cultural heritage, which should enrich us spiritually. Our role is to actively contribute to that enrichment.

The Foundation therefore aims to free artworks from the emptiness of their isolation and frame them within the context of the present, where people can truly see them. We want to help young artists so that their talent and potential can develop. Above all, we will do everything we can to make art a natural part of our society's life and to change it for the better. Because when art touches a person, it teaches them to see the world in different colours.
